January 22, 2013

Hola familia,

We heard about the wondrous teams who've made it to the big bowl this year last night at dinner. The first bowl since the Seahawks have played that i've cared to watch and alas..... It cannot be so. But I'm excited to hear the outcome. I want the Ravens... I love the niners but I want ol' Ray Lewis to get a ring before he goes home. Good to hear you're keeping busy in the office. Always better to have too much work then not enough. Even though it's late hours and long days... I feel your pain it's okay ;). Those zzzQuil things you sent don't do a whole lot. But it's no big deal. I don't think it'll ever change unfortunately. You can rest when your dead I guess.

But this past week was mildly uneventful. We had a couple lessons with a guy we're teaching. He's a good guy we've taught him the Restoration and the Plan of Salvation so far and it's been pretty good. We got word that he's one of those "I want proof in the Bible that this Lehi guy is legit" before we went into our lesson with him. So the route of the lesson went from finishing the Plan of Salvation into talking about the correlation between the Bible and the BofM unintentionally but it was good. I think he needed to hear it. We also had the opportunity to help a lady move out of her house with some of the guys in the ward. Probably two of the funniest guys i've ever met. They're brothers relatively close in age and they invited us to help move their non member acquaintence and it was really fun and enjoyable. I like service. They should have missions where you go clean up disaster areas cause that'd be neat. But beggars can't be choosers. I conducted my first baptismal interview on Saturday, that was pretty good. A 19 year old girl named Rocelina being taught by our Zone Leaders. The interview went well she passed on all accounts and was supposed to get baptized this Saturday but unfortunately I guess she got hit with some anti and is now on edge, so hopefully she can overcome this little obstacle and take it to the big man upstairs. We also found a new investigator named Ivan, we were tracting some houses and this kid answered the door so we started talking to him and he told us he wasn't interested but the people in back might be. So we went around the house and there was a couple guys playing pool so we talked to em for a second and he said come back tomorrow, so we did and we taught him the Restoration and invited him to be baptized. He wasn't so sure about that one but we have another lesson with him on Thursday so hopefully he'll have read and prayed and turned it around a little bit.

But that's about all I have for now. Tomorrow's the big 8 month mark so that's fun. I'm pretty set on things I need. Maybe a little extra cash cause I have some stuff I need to send home. I've been hoarding stuff and I don't have room for it all, so that'd be helpful if I could send it home and have you store it in my room or something. Feel free to be cleaning my shotgun too when Jordan introduces her little boyfriend, as a scare tactic and also cause it probably needs cleaned. But mainly for the scare tactic ;) Love you all bunches and i'll talk to you soon!!

Wellllll Hellllllooooo!
That was quite the e-mail. The new area is unbelievably awesome with beautiful weather, geography, and people. These wards are great, there is a little/a lot more people in the pool of teaching then in our previous area. We can see the beach less then a 15 second walk down the street from our apartment and it's awesome. We are in a car share so that's good. The reason behind e-mailing you today as compared to yesterday is because the Family History Center is in Santa Maria and we don't have enough time to go down there on P day and the library is closed on Monday's so we have permission to e-mail from the library on Tuesday. So yeah. The new companion is pretty good. Elder Brandon Hatch from South Jordan, Utah. He's a good kid. Being a District Leader is so-so. Just adding a little extra breathing down the neck that's all. But it is what it is haha. We had some pretty good lessons this week. We have 4 people set with baptismal dates, but unfortunately I don't think any of them are going to make it on said date. They all have a bit of a rough time coming to church so we have to fix some stuff there and sit down to have a couple come to Jesus talks. But we'll make it work.

We had dinner with one of our Bishops the other night and there was a guy there who just got home from his mission a couple weeks ago. He served in Florida and came straight to California from there but he actually lives in Washington. I swear the kid is one of the three Nephites. I met him once, he bestowed upon us some wisdom and shared some experiences from his mission and then BOOM vanished.... He actually just went back to Washington but I swear he's a nomad Nephite that just goes where the Lord tells him too haha. Not a whole lot else to report on though. My district consists of 6 missionaries including my companion and I. So a smaller one. But they're all good to be around and no problems have come to the light yet so hopefully that means that there aren't any. But we'll see what the future has in store. President Castro sent me a list of scriptures to read upon receiving my new assignment and Section 121 was part of the assignment so I've been well acquainted with it thus far.
It's good to hear that everyone is still doing well. The Guido's were glad I left cause now the family can come and visit haha. I was thinkin the other day, when I get home, we should go on a tour of your mission over in England. Then after we do that we can go on a tour of my mission, eh eh? Know what I'm saying? I thought that was a pretty genius idea so you'll have to ponder that one in your mind and in your heart and let me know what you think. But that's all I sent the next memory card home so you should get that this week. Till next week I love you and will talk to you soon!

Transfer to Pismo

Don't worry I checked e'mail last week but since you didn't write I just sent a quickie to Nic. But it's no big deal cause there haven't been any major changes in my neck of the woods. Till today. But we'll talk about that in a minute. I'm glad the pheasant hunt went well. That's always a joyous time. Good call on not showing his prized kill. Remember the Kelly campout when I was shooting tweety birds and got chastised? That was fun. Good thing that .22 is getting used since it got used so much after I bought it haha I was planning ahead. I knew Goose was going to want to shoot so I figured i'd just help the kid out haha. ;) I'm not a fan of PC. They're an interesting bunch. But that's okay if they don't have to deal with them next year. I have also learned about Jordan's little boyfriend he sounds like a pretty good kid. He fits every category she likes with movies tv and disney so that's a big plus. Hopefully it works out. Or not then I don't have any pressure to get married when I get home. Free sailing playing golf and watching movies for a bit. I don't know what I want to do with school anymore. So we'll see what happens there but I still have 17 months to not worry about that so I guess I won't.

As for a missionary update, my area has been dead for the past two weeks because no one has been around to gather in the sheep. I've been serving in a couple different wards in a tri-pan so that's actually been pretty fun. But I got my call this morning telling me i'm going to Pismo Beach tomorrow and I'm going to be District Leader. So I don't know how that's going to work out but I'm a little excited. My new companions name is Elder Hatch. I hear he's a good kid so hopefully we'll have some success while we're there. I hear Pismo is beautiful though so I can't complain too much. I've also heard that the apartment is pretty close to the ocean. If it's the one i'm staying in. If that's the case I'll be sure to send you pictures. My old companion that I white washed into Simi with, Elder Gallup, is coming back and training so that should be pretty alright. But other then that nothing too exciting. I'll have more for you next week on how the new area is and what the comp is like. Thanks for the support you render. I really appreciate it. It's always nice to hear from home. Look forward to talking to you next week. Love you all bunches! Good luck with your diet! I need to go on one too. We'll see........
